What's right about this that I'm not getting? (1 Year Anniversary Tip)

March 6, 2020

Happy anniversary my crazy possible peeps!

One year ago on March 5th, 2019, the tip 'What's right about this that I'm not getting?' debuted! In honor of the tip that started it all, we are bringing back this classic. Because let's be honest - it's always relevant!

Sometimes, things happen and we lose track of where we are. We suddenly find ourselves in a less than pleasant situation. How did we get here? Things were going so well! We may have even been following a path that would not have seemed to involve any of the un-fun stuff we now find ourselves dealing with.

When you are going through something difficult, try to shift your perspective by asking: What's right about this that I'm not getting? What is this teaching me? What can I learn from this?

It may be difficult at first to shift your attention from the hurt and sadness to trying to look at the positive side of things. To my surprise, I have found that just be willing to ask this question lightens my load. I begin to remember that this isn't permanent - it is a passing feeling or situation that I will not be living in forever. And that's great to know!

You can even use this tip for small stuff! One time I missed the bus and was going to be late to a meeting. Another time, I overslept and missing going to coffee with friends. Each time I asked, "Okay, what is right about this that I'm not getting? Maybe this is for the best. Who knows." Then I let it go. Later on, I discovered that the meeting was cancelled and I was saved a trip by missing the bus! My friends told me that an acquaintance crashed the coffee date and complained for 5 (yes, seriously, 5) hours. So I didn't miss much of anything!

So my friends, what is right about whatever it is you're going through that you're not getting? Thank you so much for being on this journey with me for ONE WHOLE YEAR! I am so grateful for your brave, beautiful souls. How does it get even better than this?

See you out there,

Trina
